PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT
First Hand Learning offers a variety of professional development experiences
appropriate for both formal and informal educators. To discuss how experienced
FHL staff can collaborate with you to design workshops to address your
particular needs and interests, or to find out how to participate in
regularly-scheduled professional development opportunities, please contact
us at inquiries@firsthandlearning.org.
OUTDOOR INQUIRIES
The natural world is a rich educational resource, one that is essentially
free-of-charge, ever changing, and self-refurbishing. It is available
to any teacher who chooses to walk out of the classroom door into the
schoolyard beyond. Outdoor Inquiries® introduces teachers to the
endless possibilities for learning that exist outside and provides
them with practical strategies and helpful tools to support student
inquiry and exploration. Learn more
OBJECT LESSONS
One-day
professional development workshops introduce teachers to the content
and inquiry strategies of each Object Lessons® kit. Seminars
are offered throughout the year at various sites, including nature centers,
museums, and zoos. For more details about this supplemental curriculum,
see Object Lessons® Kits
