Science Firsthand At Polonia Hall

HOPE CENTER: The Hope Center provides services to the homeless population in Buffalo. They provide clothing, a free meal on Wednesday nights, and they help people find jobs and housing.

FOOD PANTRY: The food pantry is a supplemental food service that provides groceries twice a month (the first and third Tuesdays of the month) to families in the neighborhood who meet the low income requirements. All food is provided by the Food Bank of Western New York.

KIDS CAFE: Polonia Hall provides hot meals for kids that are enrolled in the after school program.

YOUTH PROGRAM: The youth program at Polonia Hall consists of a mandatory 30 minute homework time, an arts and crafts program, a gym where the kids can participate in structured games such as basketball and relays, a rec room that has a pool table and a foosball table, a lending library and a computer lab.

SCIENCE FIRSTHAND: The Science Firsthand program is a daily program that allows the kids to learn science through a hands-on approach. There is a fully equipped lab with its own library just off the gym on the second floor. The kids learn how the world is full of science and why things happen from a try and find out method.

SES TUTORING: This is an after school tutoring program that is provided through the center by a certified tutor. She works with youth from a select few schools and helps them to develop a better grasp on concepts they are learning in school.
