Taste of Science Firsthand
Connecting with youth, connecting with science, changing lives.
Science Firsthand is an afterschool science enrichment program that
makes it possible for middle school aged youth to do weekly science
investigations with an adult mentor.
The Science Firsthand program runs at 13 different community centers
in Buffalo. Together the centers have formed the Science Firsthand
Collaborative of Buffalo (SFCB). The goals of the Collaborative are
to share resources and to develop enough local support to make science
a long-term component of after school programming.
The Science Firsthand Collaborative is still in its early stages and
we have not yet introduced it to the public other than at the annual
Young Investigators Conference at the Buffalo Zoo. We are looking
for an individual who could organize friend-raising events where new
audiences could experience Science Firsthand in action.
